Addax History
Addax was incorporated in 1985 by a collaboration of Defense and Aerospace professionals who recognized that advanced composite materials could economically replace metals in many industrial applications. Advanced composite materials were originally developed for the aircraft and aerospace industries where weight reduction and high strength was paramount...regardless of the cost. Since our inception Addax has applied this technology to commercial industry, and has successfully led the effort to provide advanced composite products at economical prices. Our primary mission is to make metal products obsolete where weight, fatigue, vibration and corrosion limit performance. Today, Addax has successfully designed, manufactured and supplied a long list of products using ingenious adaptations of proven composite technology that extend the boundaries of mechanical properties which have historically been limited by metals. Ultimately, Addax has made the impossible...possible.
In 1986 Addax pioneered the introduction of the first advanced composite spacer coupling system used for cooling towers, pumps, compressors and fans. These coupling systems essentially put the industry on its ear, and put Addax on the map. To date, Addax has supplied over 25,000 coupling units to customers around the world. Our customer list reads like the "Who's Who" of Refineries, Power Plants, and Public Utilities.

While developing our coupling product line, Addax honed our composite expertise by performing research and development for automotive torsion bars, rocket motor cases, various industrial pressure vessels, and some of the first carbon fiber composite fiber golf club shafts and tennis rackets. Our past experience has been instrumental in refining our ability to provide turnkey products for industrial applications.
The advent of an increased need for faster printing and converting machines in the late 80s and early 90s provided Addax an avenue to introduce the first carbon fiber rollers to the market. To date, Addax has become one of the world's largest suppliers of carbon fiber idler rollers, and the first to offer the significant benefits of carbon fiber rollers at prices that are competitive with conventional alloy alternatives.
In 1998 Addax was pleased to join the Rexnord Industries family of companies. Our association with Rexnord has allowed Addax to capitalize on the extensive resources available to us by being a part of the world's premier power transmission, drives, and conveying equipment manufacturer.
Today, Addax is confident in what our future holds. We pledge to you our customers and colleagues that we will continue to expand the boundaries of advanced composite technology while providing products that yield significant benefits while keeping prices in balance with current markets.
